Being Bright at the Museum

Pun intended haha. It has been the same old weekly routine, spending one of the days during the weekend in the library to studying as much as we could to cover up what we procrastinated during the week seems like the only way to sustain a passing grade for our final exam haha! 😈

Little did we know that there was a museum exhibition on animal fossils, so we got a little distracted ahahahhahaha! We both agreed that we definitely need to get our priorities right theeeeeeeeee NEXT TIME. 😛

Ughhhh this is so wrong from this angle now that I take a closer look at it HAHAHAHAHHA! Fully illustrated process of how fossils are created, not teeheehee. 😈 It’s quite eerie to be surrounded by so many skeletons but it certainly is interesting to see what’s beneath the flesh of all the animals we see in the zoo.

The skeleton of a dolphin was the most amusing of all, I hadn’t give much thought that their bone structure of their fins will resemble humans’ hands so closely! It’s worth giving it a visit, after all it’s free admission but you’re greatly encouraged to give a small token of donation before you enter! 😀

Putting aside my ways of being lazy, I’m madly crazy of Doloris Petunia‘s custom made studded swarovski crystals bracelets! It’s a MUST to check her work out! Remember how we used to wear friendship bracelets when we’re a kids and making one each just for our best friends with their names on it? It’s definitely back but with a whole new level with two of my favourite embellishments!

Also, with a bright sweater, which I’ve mentioned before, a walking traffic cone on the street, I’ve toned down my accessories with a darker hue of blue intertwined beaded necklace just so it can still stand out, and in contrast with the colour of my top!

Hehehhe please excuse the ‘Korean Lady’ socks, I was just merely trying to expand my shoes because it definitely hurt after not wearing it for a long time geeez! And that’s probably the thickest skin socks I have hohoho.

Disaster aside, I’ve never been a fan of cuffed jeans straightly available from stores because it somehow just reminded me of the 7/8 unflattering pants we used to see when we’re kids. So I’m one to stay far away from anything cuffed! Taking inspiration from my neon sweater sleeves though, I figured that I should follow suit to give the outfit a little perky ‘cuffed’ illusion somehow. Strangely enough, it looked good when I folded up my skinny jeans, and I believe it all essentially boils down to investing in a good pair of quality jeans! 🙂

Last but not least, whoever passes by Perth Cultural Centre should definitely give Polly a try! Their sandwiches are to die for, and it’s probably one of the best curried egg sandwich that I’ve ever tasted in Perth!!

Winter Flowers

*Takes a deep breath*

It’s been more than a week since I’ve last blogged and this is not the way I want it to happen, but I just finished my night styling class as I’m drafting this post down for a scheduled post! I signed up for another short creative course over at Central Tafe and this time, it’s Fashion Styling and Accessorising. Thought I needed a little bit of a kick start if I plan to head down that career path in the future, and it is indeed an eye opening experience just to hear what the experienced stylists are telling you what they can! I guess I just need to start somewhere, and establish a brand for myself in order to put myself out there.

On a side note, juggling between styling classes, CPA and work isn’t easy but I would probably say that it all boils down to my time management skills which sadly is made up of procrastination 80% of it hahhaaha 🙄 .

Transitioning into Spring, it would only be apt that I mix some florals and winter pieces together to turn my daily outfits to spring wear gradually. Not one to wear tailored shirts untucked usually, because it will just make one look messy if done wrong in my opinion, I’ve popped over a faux fur vest to give my outfit a body volume. Not forgetting, it’s best to opt for a plain outerwear if one piece of clothing SCREAMS PRINTS PRINTS PRINTS!

This has been popping into my mind off late, and it just strikes me that with every piece of clothing I have, there’s a story behind it. Be it funny or just shopping excursions beyond average behaviours, mad even. It’s funny how I can never remember essential things that I should be putting my mind into, but I can’t help stealing a giggle every time I think of the things I did for anything I’m wearing.

Just like this brown bag, long before I got the Alexander Wang, I thought this rip off Sportsgirl bag would satisfy my temporary lust. It was back in the uni days, and out of desperation and fear of it being sold out (thinking that there might be other girls as desperate as me), I waited outside Sportsgirl on a winter morning for at least 2 hours before it opens so I could call first dips on the bag! Pretty sure it was merely reaching 8degrees and I was freezing my ass off!! Some asked, why didn’t you wait at a cafe and warm yourself with a cup of coffee while waiting. Well that’s because I was already broke and the money I’m left with, is all I can afford for a bag LOL!! See. That’s persistence. 😈

ANYWAYYYYY, With nothing much to do besides bonding over food, my girls and I meet up for brunch sessions weekly as well as exploring the many new cafes that has been popping up lately around in Perth.

The Tuck Shop in Northbridge serves one of the most amazing pies I’ve tasted. With the flaky buttery pastry, and a warm filling of rosemary, chicken and vegetables, what more can I ask for? Their chips and aioli are nothing short of good saltiness and crispiness.

Back to my outfit, do you like my ensemble?

Modern Classic

The shortest day of the year has been long gone but it’s still freezing on certain days though we’re gradually moving into Spring. I’m waiting impatiently for the sun to stay longer during the days now, so I don’t have to rely on tights to keep my legs warm every time i wear a skirt out! But then again, I clearly remembered how I was longing for winter last year, just so I could put this soft faux fur coat on and stroke myself every second. As I was saying in the last few post that I was a big fan of dalmatian spots and probably still am, this has to be one of the items that’s most closely related to the movie character, Cruella De Vil. 😛 But of course, I’m far different from her context of love for dalmatian prints! 🙄

I think going to Toast is becoming one of my regular routines because I really love having breakfast with a good view of the river bordered with pretty houses! It’s somewhat a place where you have to bring anyone whom goes to Perth for a holiday.

I had to order my chicken and avocado toasted panini again because I was so mad that half of it fell onto the floor when I here with my girls a month ago! That’s the worse thing that could happen, when I’m starving as well! This time, I had a breakfast envy of my mummy’s bacon and eggs with toast. 😥 It looked so much better than my plain old panini sandwich. Mehhhh.

With the luxurious looking collar, I felt that it resembles the 20s era along with the faux fur cuffs. Not wanting to dwell onto the extreme side of the classic style, I toughen my look up with my favourite pair of rowdy ankle boots. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I personally felt that being girly is rather easy by just wearing a dress and piling on matching accessories. To make it a little more interesting, I tend to include a piece that make the outfit less girly yet falling within the style that I’m trying to go for.

Of course, a little bit of touch of classic from my pair of lipstick earrings does the trick! Don’t be fooled by the looks of it, but it was so heavy that I had to take it out once I got into the car. My ears felt like it was dragging on the floor like a Basset Hound the entire time I was wearing it. Oh well, what do you think of this mix? 😀

Wallflower

No idea why but when I first saw this pair of yummies, it reminded me of Isabel Marant‘s zora leather lacquer-wedge sandals instantly. Though it’s not exactly similar in every way, though that would be a total rip off but I love how it adds a few inches of height without sacrificing the ease to walk in it. Always on the look out for statement shoes, I forgot how easy it was to settle with pieces that are less attention seeking. I had wanted to buy the same pair in a gold one but it was sold out fortunately (I guess) which led me to this minty shade instead.

Venturing into pastels in a few different colours, I’ve decided to keep it within the cooler hues to keep the outfit soft. Amazingly, I’ve found a wall when I was walking past a back alley and it reflected the colours of my outfit of that exact day!

It was one of the last weekend that my mummy has in Perth, we brought her to Harbour Town and around the city, and I hadn’t stop splurging on everything I come across which is so annoying..which led me to put a shopping ban on myself till christmas. I’ll just see how long I can last, which reminds me, I already have an item on the ‘Exemption from Shopping Ban’ list HAHAHAHHA! Oh well… 🙄

Hope you’re all surviving through the week now!

Flamingo Tango

I don’t know if it’s just me or this happens to everyone else but I get obsessed with an animal, and it changes every 6 months. Weird thing is, whenever I go crazy about it, all the prints on clothes seems to be revolving around that animal (i.e Dalmatian the last 6 months, look how many new arrivals comes in dalmatian prints and pattern). To be honest, I’ve been secretly thinking that maybe, just maybe this is the reason of my existence in life..to predict the next ‘IT’ animal HHAHAHAHAHA! Definitely widening the range of jobs in the fashion industry ay. Can you imagine if I were to tell people what my job is when I meet new clients?

Hi there, I’m the animal predictor for next season’s prints. How do you do?

Certainly something worth thinking about!

Of course, it’s obvious that I’m leaning towards a bird fetish now and it’s Flamingoooooo this time! It’s great that I could manage to find two similar accessories from different brands. When I spotted the charm necklace of dangling flamingos, it is a no brainer that this entails an immediate shopping transaction that left my bank account in tears hahaha!

Ever since I’ve gotten my chiffon white shirt with tipped collar, I have been eagerly waiting for the cold weather to hit Perth so I will be able to play with layering with a few of my favourite sweaters. It’s probably a playful way of using details of the collar tips, just peeking out for asking for attention without overdoing it. Also, as it’s made of chiffon, it’s easier to incorporate into our casual day wear rather than just remaining strictly under work attire.

Even though we’re in the midst of winter, I still disagree with the trend of going for autumn/winter colours which would just makes my day a little bit more dull. It’s already bad enough that the weather is dark and gloomy, and with almost everyone on the street wrapped in black, grey or dark coloured clothing, why not take the initiative and be the one that’s going to brighten the day up? It’s up to you to decide on what mood you should be on every single day, so why not start with playing with colours even though it’s winter time?! 😉

I’m torn between pastels and neon at the moment, which also translates to my split personality of being an extrovert or introvert at times hahahha! Ohhhh well, but I love how my lavender nail polish is matching with almost every colour.

Last but not least, that house in Northbridge is probably one of the weirdest houses I’ve came across. There’s a freaking skeleton on their balcony for a few years and I have no idea why someone would put it there for so long. Or maybeeeee, they’re just lazy to take it down right after halloween just like how I’m not bothered to take down my christmas tree right after christmas! 😛

Have a good weekend loves!
